Vanguard, the old school themepark MMO, has been re-launched with a free to play option. In a typical SOE fashion the free to play version is somewhat restricted, so if you want experience the game with all the features, eventually you will have to pay 14.99$ per month. I don't think they understand the free to play business model, even if Turbine does something similar, they give the player a change to unlock the missing content by playing more than others through currency or other means, free.
A few highlights from Sony Online "Free to Play TM":
- Gold drops(top tier gear) are for subscription user only.
- Small amount of bank slots (25 free)
- Half of the races and jobs are locked for free users
- Cant own a house
- Limit on how much gold you can have
