Wurm Online

Developed in Java, Wurm Online is a free to play sandbox mmo featuring a rich history and a massive persistent world. Everything in the game is created and managed by players and when a new server is deployed it starts with empty lands. The game allows the players to terraform the land by manipulating the tiles with shovels. Players can also build villages, keeps and cities, form new kingdoms and engage in Player vs Player combat.

Wurm Online isn’t a bad game at all, but it can get boring rather quickly if played alone or with a small group.

It’s best to play with bigger groups and join a fairly large village.

It used to be good, till the removed pvp

This is a great Sandbox Game, probably the best combination of survival and creativity avaible. I don’t know what the guest is talking about “removed pvp”, there are pvp servers and pve servers here, just the actual combat mechanics are abysmal.

If you like building, and like survival, you just HAVE to play wurm online. If not, atleast give it a try. To this date, there is no comparable experience. And it’s still in (active) development, so it’s (supposedly) even getting better.

Fun fact: Notch (Minecraft) was on and off involved in the development of Wurm.

there is no real pvp left on the sandbox servers, only pvp on the faster pased quest servers

Its an interresting game, but it will get boring very quickly once you get trough the first adventures days and settle down. I advise against joining a large village as this will just end you up grinding behind a forge from the start, which is incredibly boring.

PvP could be decent, if not for the horrible gank bonus, balance and very small pvping userbase. Finding a fair fight is hard and finding a fight in the first place is even harder.

I would personally give the game a 7/10, from which one point solely comes from being a unique mmo. The game however lacks to much in many aspects.

“You can play Wurm completely FREE for as long as you
wish. But there are some limitations. You cannot raise your skills above
20, which prevents you doing things like knocking down walls and
building stone house, and leaves you much weaker than other players.
Additionally, you cannot join all the Servers as some, like the Wild
    server are premium only.”

    They lost me there. :I
